  • Gochisou Pizza Bar
    Gochisou fires up wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas with a Japanese twist, featuring creative toppings like sweet potato, kale, and other seasonal local ingredients. After a day on the slopes, pair your pizza with a local beer or wine for a cosy, delicious meal.

  • Wakagiri
    Wakagiri sits right on Oyu Doru, the main walking street in town. A local favourite, it serves up tasty sushi, soba, udon, ramen, and other Japanese classics. The menu is affordable, offers good vegetarian options, and the staff are very friendly. It gets busy, so arrive early or ask your hotel to help you with a reservation.

    Juntos is a Mexican spot with a Japanese twist, serving up burritos you won’t forget! Gluten-free options are available, and the tequila and cocktail list is perfect for washing down some of their famous loaded nachos.

  • Minato
    Minato specialises in hot pots, sushi platters and BBQ chicken skewers and remains a bit of a hidden gem in Nozawa. Reservations are essential as the people who do know it tend to go back during their trip. Minato is a lovely small restaurant with a great atmosphere. Dine at the bar or on traditional tatami seating surrounding a fireplace in the middle of the restaurant which adds to the warm welcoming ambience.

  • Genki Burger
    Genki Burger is casual, messy, and oh-so-juicy - perfect if you’re craving a taste of home. Delicious burgers with great fries (the loaded fries are next-level) and tasty veggie options, including a standout tofu burger. Tricky to seat a group but you can call or order online. You’ll find Genki Burger off the main street near Hotel Hause St. Anton (Jam Factory & Café). Genki opens from 3pm.

  • Ikemitsu
    Ikemitsu is a spacious eatery just off the main street, perfect for larger groups. They serve authentic, home-cooked meals - don, udon, and rice dishes - all packed with flavour and great value. Portions are hearty, gyoza is some of the best in town, and the ramen, katsu chicken curry, and fried squid legs are absolute must-tries.

  • Hamacho Sushi
    Hamacho Sushi is one of the few spots in Nozawa serving fresh sashimi. Arrive early, as there are no reservations and it can get busy. The tuna and kingfish are excellent, and the sashimi platter is also highly recommended. Seating includes a tatami area (no shoes) and a bar with a great view of the sushi being prepared.

  • Billiken
    Billiken is one of those cosy Japanese spots that instantly feels like you’ve wandered into a friend’s home. This traditional eatery serves up thin-crust pizzas with a Japanese twist, plus solid rice dishes, ramen, and pork plates that won’t break the bank. Get there early, keep an eye out for the owners’ cats lounging at the bar. Don’t miss the Japanese-style pizza topped with an onsen-boiled egg.

  • Akibitei Okonomiyaki
    Akibitei Okonomiyaki is a classic Japanese restaurant where the friendly and entertaining owner is also the chef. Okonomiyaki are Japanese savoury pancakes with meat, seafood or cabbage served with lots of awesome sauces, the pancakes are prepared in front of you. A fantastic little teppan bar serving inexpensive food and great beer and Saki. Nothing is fancy but you are sure to get an excellent meal at a great price served by a warm & happy family. Arrive early or be prepared to wait as this restaurant does not take bookings.

    Swiss Bakery, run by local Swiss family, is a cosy spot near the Karasawa lift. Freshly baked breads, pastries, and Italian-style pizzas are made daily by European-trained bakers - perfect for a morning treat or an evening pizza fix

    At the base of the mountain, just below the gondola is The Craft Room. A popular spot for a coffee and bagel for breakfast & beers at the end of the day known for western style beer and chicken wings.

    Located in Hotel Haus St. Anton, Jam Factory & Café is a Nozawa favourite for coffee, fresh juices, homemade jams and sweet treats like cinnamon scrolls and ice cream. Top tip: Grab a steamed bun - pork or cinnamon apple are must-tries! Gluten-free cakes available too.
