The skiable terrain is one of the largest on offer with 5,317 acres on offer, and an inviting 195 of trails services by 31 lifts. The resort receives an average annual snowfall of 9 metres which is the typical dry, fluffy powder the Colorado Rockies are renowned for.
Vail is made up of three distinguishable areas to ride; Front Side (1,655 acres), Back Bowls (3,017 acres), and Blue Sky Basin (645 acres). The Front Side offers the greatest vertical and has fantastic tree runs with over half the lifts located here. The Back Bowls are mostly treeless and offer terrain that is particularly popular amongst advanced riders. The Blue Sky Basin is mainly for the advanced skiers and boarders. There are a few groomed runs for intermediates but beginners are best to avoid this area until more competent.
