Kounkaku is a beautifully restored private ryokan in Akakura Onsen, Myoko, with a history dating back over 200 years. Originally established as a hunting lodge for the Takada Clan, the property has been rebuilt as an exclusive whole-building rental for one group at a time, offering a more private and intimate Japanese onsen experience.

The highlight is the large natural hot spring bath, which holds around 7,000 litres and preserves the original design of Kounkaku’s historic bathhouse. The property also features a spacious terrace, Japanese cedar beds, a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable living spaces, making it well suited to a private couple or small group looking for a traditional Myoko stay.
