Plenty of open space, offering 21 mostly linked ski resorts across Joshinetsu National Park. Good dry powder can be found here and is a great destination to see real Japan and escape the westerners.
Shiga Kogen is also easily accessible from Tokyo, being located in the Nagano Prefecture.

SAMPLE INTINERARY
Fly To Tokyo
Make your way to the airport and board your flight bound for Tokyo, Japan. Upon arrival, meet your coach to transfer you to your accommodation in Shiga Kogen. Make your way to the rental shop and get fitted out with your skis/snowboard sets.

Meet your instructors for your first morning group lessons based on skill level. Lift passes included. Enjoy the afternoon exploring the slopes with your teachers.

Return to your accommodation by coach.
