The Shiga Prince Hotel West is a handy ski-in, ski-out base at the foot of Mt Yakebitaiyama in Shiga Kogen, with the slopes right outside your door.

The West Wing has around 350 rooms, split between compact twin rooms and larger family rooms, making it a good option for couples, families and groups. A Japanese and Western buffet breakfast is included each morning, so you can fuel up before heading straight out onto the resort.

Of the three Prince Hotel wings, the West is the mid-range option, but guests can make use of facilities across all three.

There are three restaurants in the West Wing, serving everything from buffet and Chinese to ramen, and it’s also the only wing with an on-site onsen – ideal for a soak after a day on the hill.

Free shuttles run between the three wings throughout the day, with evening services to Ichinose Village making it easy to get out and explore beyond the resort.
