Travis Rice Snowboarding Hakuba
If you’re a big fan of the snow, you will have no doubt heard of the Hakuba Valley. And, if you’re a big fan of snowboarding you will have surely heard of Travis Rice. If not, well, you’re about to.
Travis Rice is a professional snowboarder and big-mountain freeride legend from America. The son of a ski patroller, Rice was always destined for the mountains. He’s not only on Snowboarder magazine’s list of the 20 most influential snowboarders of the last 20 years. But he’s also regarded as one of the best all-round snowboarders the world has ever seen!
As well as being a legend in front of the camera, Rice is also known for his work producing behind the lens. He has made numerous trailblazing snowboarding films, including The Fourth Phase, which you’ll see some of below.
The film is a follow-up to his famous 2011 film, The Art of Flight, and follows Rice over a multi-year mission as he chases the North Pacific Gyre’s flow. No small feat, the journey was 16,000 miles long! The film covers some of the most stunning landscapes in the North Pacific – from Russia to Alaska and our favourite, Japan. Throughout the 2014 and 2015 winter seasons, Rice was in Hakuba shooting the film.
