The Kogen Taizan Hotel is a very traditional Japanese style ryokan offering clean and comfortable accommodation within 5 minutes walk to Akakura Onsen ski area. Conveniently located on the main street of Akakura, many popular restaurants and bars are just moments away, making the property an ideal option for those wanting to explore the area both night and day.

Rooms are available as Japanese style with traditional tatami flooring and futon bedding or western style with western twin beds. Interconnecting rooms (Japanese style + western style) are available to accommodate larger groups and families.

The hotel has both mens and womens 100% natural onsens available for guest use. Guests can enjoy four different types of onsens including an open air bath, bubble baths, a large Tenshin-tenbo bath and a sauna bath.

For families, there is a games room with table tennis and computer games.

We booked through Anna O’Malley for our stay in Nozawa onsen Village in Japan. Seamless service, prompt, and pricing reasonable. The Shimataya View Hotel, was a lovely stay. Room size was large, great views, and Amazing service from Staff. Momoi and Eloisa couldn’t help enough- from dinner reservations to organising luggage to Tokyo. Property is older, though clean, well maintained. 10 min walk to slopes, 5 min walk to village centre. I recommend Mountain Watch, and this property. Photos are the view from our room.
