Travelling is part of our job. Every year we head to Japan for a few weeks to a few months, depending on commitments back home. We spend the majority of our time in Hakuba, working from the Happo office. This gives us the opportunity to see how things work on the ground as well as allowing us to meet our customers, visit the suppliers and dine in as many restaurants as we can.

Hakuba isn’t all we know. Each year we are given the opportunity to visit a new destination, familiarising ourselves with the resort as well as experiencing the Japanese transport systems.

Many of our team members have also lived and worked in resorts across the world, from Canada to the USA and New Zealand and others have been able to experience them with work trips. With offices now based in Queenstown (NZ), Sydney and Hakuba, there’s always someone that knows the resort you’re after.

A common misconception is travel agents add a fee to their packages – how else would we make money? We actually receive commission from suppliers, meaning prices are the same as if you purchased directly with the hotel, transfer or tour company. In fact, our prices are often better than what you will find yourself, this is because we have spent years developing close relationships with suppliers.

Love Of Snow

All our staff have a genuine love for the snow with each of us having spent considerable time on the mountain at many of the destinations we are selling. While we haven’t been to every resort, if it’s on our website there is a good chance one of us has travelled there.

Most of us have even lived in the snow at some stage. Our resident Canadian Lindsay grew up skiing the powdery peaks of Banff before heading west to Whistler. Rob, Mandy and Justine have all been lucky enough to call Canada home at some stage, living in Vancouver, Banff, Whistler and Fernie and travelling further afield to experience other Canadian and US resorts.  Our director Quentin has been travelling to Japan since 2005 when he brought his first tour group over, he now brings his family over every season.

Create A Community

We aim to offer an unforgettable experience, from the initial stages of enquiry, through to booking, in-resort hosting and post trip follow ups. We have a Mountainwatch Travel facebook page which we invite you all to join, it offers a place to connect with one another, to ask questions and provide information on deals and events. We build lasting relationships with our customers, evident in the number of people we have coming back each year.

Our community is unique, with people from all walks of life and from all over the world. Over the years we have been lucky enough to book trips for world class athletes, well known musicians and everyone between. Last season we were lucky enough to host all the artists from the inaugural Snow Machine Festival.

In Resort Services

When you book with us, you will be well looked after from start to finish. Our office is open 7 days a week throughout the Northern Hemisphere season, so we are on hand to assist when you need it most. For those in Hakuba we encourage you to pop into the office, our team is on hand to help with tours, lessons, restaurant bookings or simply say hello.

In some of our more popular destinations we offer welcome drinks and mountain guiding. Welcome drinks offer an opportunity to meet our clients, have a chat and enjoy a beer together. It also gives us an opportunity to hear your feedback, which we encourage so we can continue to improve our services. Mountain Guiding in Hakuba is offered 4 days a week at some of our favourite resorts. Our experienced guide will meet you for a 2 hour guided tour of the mountain, perfect for those travelling solo or anyone wanting to get a better understanding of the resort.

These are some of the many reasons how we are able to provide the best service for our customers on their ski trips. If you too would like us to assist you with your next ski holiday, our team are eagerly waiting to hear from you. You can request a quote here or give us a call on 02 9905 6162.
