 The Resorts

Nozawa Onsen

Nozawa Onsen is made up of one large ski resort, offering 300 hectares of terrain and a big-for-japan 1,085 meters in vertical drop. This place is the powder-hound’s dream. It receives over ten meters of snow each season. Nozawa Onsen takes just under two hours to reach by car.

Shiga Kogen

Shiga Kogen is one of Japan’s biggest resorts, and the country’s second highest. There are in fact 21 resorts strung together across 600 hectares and the area hosted some of the 1998 Olympic events. Shiga Kogen is just under 2 hours from Hakuba by car.

Madarao Kogen

Madarao Kogen has a vertical drop of 440 meters and 30 trails. It also shares the mountain with neighbouring Tangram resort, which are joined at the top of the ridge at 1392 meters from sea level. They are also liberal with off-piste skiing.

Myoko Kogen

If you like unrestricted off-piste, chest deep powder and no lift lines then Myoko Kogen could be your new favourite snow resort. Myoko Kogen regularly receives an annual snowfall over 15m and consists of seven resorts.
