Rusutsu is located on the North Island of Hokkaido so the easiest way to get here is to fly into New Chitose Airport in Sapporo, which is less than 2 hours from Rusutsu. Depending where you’re coming from you can either fly directly into Sappora or via a domestic flight from Tokyo. Once you arrive in Sapporo the best way to get here is a pre-booked coach transfer which will take you directly to Rusutsu. Transfers are available directly from New Chitose Airport or from Sapporo City and takes around 2 hours. We can pre-book a direct coach transfer for you with any of our Rusutsu packages.
If your flights don’t line up with the coach timetables or you’re wanting a private shuttle, that can also be arranged. Your driver will meet you at the arrival lobby and will drive you directly to your accommodation in Rusutsu. While this option is generally more expensive it can work well if you’re travelling with a large group or family. We can pre-book this for you with any of our Rusutsu packages.
If you’re brining your own skis or snowboard and spending time in other cities of Japan, they offer a convenient luggage delivery service. You can send your luggage ahead to the airport or accommodation and pick it up when you arrive. This is perfect if you’re wanting to spend time in Tokyo or other cities before or after your ski trip but don’t want to haul your luggage on the trains.
If you want to send your ski gear you can arrange this at the airport or your hotel reception. Luggage delivery usually takes about 1 – 3 days depending on where you send it from and costs between ¥1500-3000 depending on size and
distance.
