FAQ
You will be in very capable hands throughout the week with our guides. Our local qualified backcountry guides have have been trained through a Swiss Backcountry Instructor and have spent many years guiding around the area and will be able to show you around all the best spots. Having a local guide will allow you to experience Gulmarg’s best runs, and they will make sure transportation is waiting after every run to either shuttle you back to the lifts, or to a different drop off zone. Our guides will also be around to greet you on your arrival and be around to help you with anything you need when back at the hotel.
Even though Gulmarg is your base, there are a lot of different runs and zones to choose from, from high in the alpine to the awesome lower treeruns. Your guides will decide on the day what runs are best depending on weather, snow and group dynamics
Because the aim of this trip is to ride mainly backcountry terrain, we have a strict 4 guests to 1 guide ratio. Groups of 3 or 4 will have their own guide for the duration of their trip.
Approximately 2-4 weeks prior to your departure you will receive detailed information on your trip which includes your travel vouchers, airline and airport transfer information (if applicable), information on the respective resort, etc. You will also have access to our 24hour emergency number if for any reason something goes wrong in your journey to the respective resort.
The Gulmarg Tours are open for everyone that wants to ride heli ski like terrain accessible via lifts while experiencing a beautiful culture. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a solo traveller, travelling with mates or with family. The Powder Tour is most suitable for intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders. Having backcountry equipment (backpack, shovel, probe and beacon) is a must as most runs are unpatrolled.
For the Gulmarg Trip we offer comfortable accommodation in 2, or 3 queen rooms. Each room comes with a balcony and have breakfast and dinner included. The property is only a minute ski or board from the lifts and after a solid day riding a fun treerun brings you right back to the front door!
We conduct full day guiding which include an hour lunch break. There a few different huts that offer a delicious, and cheap lunch and your guided can help you choose the best ones. On other days we might bring a packed lunch if we stay further away from the resort.
We require all travellers to have a decent travel insurance that also covers you for skiing/snowboarding skiing. We highly recommend arranging travel insurance at the time of booking, so you are covered against cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness or accidents. We can arrange a quote for travel insurance so please contact your agent for further information.
