By Air

Only a 45 minute drive from Kamloops in the interior of BC, you’ll find Sun Peaks Mountain Resort. By air, you can travel to Kamloops from Vancouver or Calgary, which takes an hour from either city.

Kamloops Airport has 4 daily direct flights from Vancouver with Air Cananda Jazz or 2 daily direct flights with West Jet from Calgary. This ensures Sun Peaks is a quick and easy travel destination.

Car Hire

Please remember you will be driving through high-altitude and weather conditions that are subject to sudden changes, and of course winter driving conditions. Be sure your vehicle is properly equipped with snow tires and/or chains (mandatory from October 1- March 31 each year) and adapt to your driving conditions no matter the season.

The drive from Kamloops Airport is a 45 minute drive to Sun Peaks and is breathtaking. If hiring a car, you’ll need to take highway 5 heading east for 35km. The road starts as Tod Mountain Rd and turns into Henley Louis Creek Rd and then Creekside Way. The road is very well maintained, wide and not windy which makes for an easy drive. There is a bit of steepness towards the end.

Driving from Kelowna Airport takes approximately 2.5 hours to get to Sun Peaks.  Take Old Vernon Road to Okanagan Highway/ BC-97 N. You’ll need to continue on Okanagan Highway and then take Trans Canada Highway to Old Highway 5 in Kamloops for 170 km. Continue on the Heffley Louis Creek Road and Sun Peaks Road to Alpine Road in Sun Peaks for 33 kms until you arrive at Sun Peaks Resort.

Shuttle Bus

Our preferred operator, Tasteful Excursions is the official Sun Peaks Shuttle Bus provider. They offer a fleet of new 14 seater passenger vans transferring to/from Kamloops Airport. There are other providers available too.

Airport Shuttles are also available from Kelowna to Sun Peaks on a select schedule. The shuttle requires a minimum number of passengers to go ahead.

If you are wanting to take a shuttle from Vancouver to Sun Peaks, the trip will take 5.5 hours. This shuttle requires a minimum of 4 people in order to run. This transfer operates throughout the winter season on Wednesdays and Saturdays only.

Getting Around Sun Peaks

The Sun Peaks village is reasonably compact so a rental car is not necessarily needed. Sun Peaks offers a free shuttle bus that operates during the ski season, running from 8:00am to 4:30pm from Opening Day in November to Closing Day in April.

The intra-resort shuttle loops around the resort to provide an easy way to get around town. Keep a lookout for “Bus Stop” signs at each stop location. Each loop takes around 20 minutes starting from the Village Day Lodge heading West towards Burfield Dr or East toward Lookout Ridge Drive. A real-time shuttle tracker is available on the website to view the current location of the shuttle.

There is also a free night shuttle which operates from 5:20 pm to 9:50 pm each night.
